Gilgen FD 20 Swing Drive Now BIM Ready

15. October 2015

Gilgen Door Systems has announced a Building Information Model (BIM) has been developed for its market leading FD20 swing door operator and can now be downloaded for use in the design and planning phase of any building project.

Building Information Modelling (BIM) offers a digital representation of the physical and functional characteristics of a facility and enables information sharing throughout its lifecycle helping to improve decision making. The UK government has announced that by 2016 all publically funded projects over a value of £5m must be designed with BIM components.

Gilgen Door Systems partnered with BIMObject, a world leading authority on BIM design to create a high quality level 2 BIM model providing a true 3D representation with rich data attached to BIM tools. Gilgen’s FD20 BIM model can be downloaded from the BIMObject website in Revit or ArchiCAD formats with a supplementary datasheet in PDF, helping to make life a little easier for architects and other professionals involved in the specification process.

The unique Gilgen FD20 is a high quality Swiss designed swing door operator and one of the first to have been tested and approved for use on fire doors with safety sensors. With its electro-mechanical drive it is one of the most powerful and versatile operators on the market; able to power heavy doors up to 250kg and even externally facing doors with a high wind loading.
