Gilgen Door Systems UK Restructures for Growth

12. January 2018

Following the company’s recent success in winning national automatic door contracts, Gilgen Door Systems UK has decided to align itself with the strategy of its Swiss headquarters and parent company, Nabtesco., by focussing its core manufacturing business on the production of automatic pedestrian doors whilst providing maintenance and repair services for a comprehensive range of automatic and industrial door and gate systems.

Whilst Gilgen will continue to sell, install and maintain its range of high-end industrial door solutions, the company is currently negotiating terms with an experienced partner to outsource the manufacture of these doors under license. With this move, Gilgen will make its range of SR, RC and CPNI rated roller shutter doors available to the wider trade market.

With Gilgen’s automatic pedestrian door sales expected to grow significantly in the next few years, the company’s organisational structure will be changed to facilitate future growth and ensure service levels are maintained at the highest levels. As part of this restructure Head Office functions will be moved to the company’s Alfreton manufacturing centre to optimise communication and collaborative working across departments; from sales and estimating, to design, manufacturing and installation.

Furthermore service operations will be decentralised and moved to regionally based teams, designed to be closer and more responsive to customer needs. With service estimating, contract management, planning and local engineering working closely together under regional management, the company plans to maximise communications, operational efficiency and customer service.

Gilgen Door Systems UK plans to have transitioned fully to its new structure within the next three months and is working closely with customers to ensure they are fully supported during this time.
