New Fire Door Approved Gilgen Swing Door Operator on show at Healthcare Estates

Visitors to the Gilgen Door Systems stand (G6) at the Healthcare Estates exhibition in central Manchester, 7-8th October, will be able to experience a demonstration of the Gilgen FD 20, a new fire-door approved automatic swing door operator, and obtain free safety advice on the use of automatic doors in healthcare facilities.

01. October 2014

Gilgen Door Systems is one of the first manufacturers to have a swing door operator with safety sensors approved for use on passive fire resistant door sets.

Exova Warringtonfire, one of the world’s most respected specialists in fire safety and resistance testing, recently completed extensive fire tests on the Gilgen FD 20 and approved the operator for use on standard passive fire door sets*, thereby meeting the requirements of BS EN 1634-1:2014 regulations.

The news is a highly significant development for specifiers and managers in the healthcare industry as Rob Archer, National Technical Manager for Gilgen Door Systems, explains: “Hospitals and healthcare facilities by their very nature have to maintain many power operated fire doors to ensure easy access for visitors and staff. However, we are now one of the first, if not only, manufacturers to have approval for the use of automatic swing door operators with safety sensors on fire doors”.

With recent changes in the safety regulations covering automatic door use, Gilgen is offering free advice to estates managers responsible for specifying or maintaining doors. This advice covers compliance with BS EN16005 and BS7036 safety guidelines, as well as guidance notes aimed specifically at the healthcare industry.

Visitors will also be able to discover more about Gilgen’s flexible range of door maintenance solutions. Gilgen Safeguard door maintenance packages provide facilities with comprehensive support including national 24/7/365 service response, planned maintenance visits, compliance testing and repairs for all types and makes of automatic door, industrial door, gate or barrier.
