New building of Gilgen as a clear commitment to the location Switzerland

Gilgen Door Systems expand their headquarters at Schwarzenburg near Bern by adding a new building. This impressive extension of the usable surface expresses a strong belief of the Swiss manufacturer of automatic door, gate and wall systems in the production site Switzerland.

In spring 2015, Jakob Gilgen, CEO of Gilgen Door Systems, together with Yosuke Mishiro, managing director of the parent company Nabtesco, laid the cornerstone for the new Gilgen building. Today, barely 18 months later, the new building can be occupied. By adding this new structure, the head office of the international manufacturer of automatic door systems has succeeded in increasing their usable surface by the impressive number of 3000 square meters.

As Jakob Gilgen explains: “The new building fulfils several objectives: one of our main goals was to expand our logistics department, in order to speed up the product preparation processes and as a result shorten the delivery periods for our customers. In addition, thanks to our modern and generously dimensioned showroom, actual and potential customers can convince themselves on a one-to-one basis of the products and their practical application. And last but not least, this new building addition will house a Customer Service competence center, along with all the training rooms for continued professional development and in-service training courses. This will enable us to enhance the training possibilities that we offer to our customers and staff members, to make sure that they are optimally equipped for dealing with any challenges related to their activities in Switzerland and all over the world”.

The conclusion that Jakob Gilgen draws on behalf of the new building leaves no doubt at all: “We are very happy with this new construction. It makes a clear statement that we believe in Switzerland as a production and innovation site.” The company, which since 2011 has been a member of the Japanese Nabtesco group, manages their worldwide business activities from Switzerland. “The new building represents an important milestone on our way to a systematic consolidation of our company, in order to guarantee our uninterrupted success also in the future”, adds the CEO.
