Gilgen RC3 automatic door conforms to security requirements of PAS 24:2012

16. July 2015

A high security automatic door system from Gilgen Door Systems has become the first of its kind to have been assessed to conform to the security requirements of PAS 24:2012. The Gilgen SLX-M RC3 automatic sliding door was assessed by UKAS approved EXOVA WarringtonFire, translating existing test evidence to support conformity to PAS 24.

Buildings, commercial outlets and premises with a high risk of break-in or attack, such as banks and jewellers require an entrance that is both secure and stylish. With its slim aluminium profiles, Gilgen SLX-M RC2-3 automatic doors offer a design that is remarkably strong and yet invitingly transparent.

Rob Archer, National Technical Manager at Gilgen Door Sytems explains “In addition to the slim profile design the automatic locking, reinforced safety glass and flush bottom guide rails help ensure effective break-in protection without loss of appearance. With SLX-M RC3, specifiers now get the best of both worlds – improved access and convenience for end-users, whilst meeting the security requirements of PAS 24:2012.”

Gilgen SLX-M RC2-3 also fulfils the new series of European break-in prevention standards EN 1627 – EN 1630 and is fully tested to DIN 18650. The system is available with single or bi-parting sliding doors and can be attached to the door lintel or wall. RC2-3 is configured with a wide range of options such as glazed overhead panels, a range of surface finishes and a choice of door activation and safety elements depending on the application.  A unique ‘Fluveri’ multi-point locking mechanism integrated into the door leaf can also be selected to provide even higher levels of protection.

Gilgen Door Systems provides a complete range of hardened entrance solutions designed to protect facilities from break-in or hostile attack. The range includes steel security doors, security grills and high security shutters to LPS1175 Level 4, meeting Police-Preferred ‘Secured by Design’ standards.

NBS specifications and CAD drawings are available to download and a national specification helpline provides access to expert technical support and development of bespoke solutions for special applications.
